Romans 3:23 (NASB)
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 (NASB)
23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus said:
John 3:16 (HCSB)
16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 10:10b (NASB)
10“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
God wants to give you life in exchange for the death that is naturally yours because of your first birth. Therefore there must be a second birth or a “New birth.” This “New birth” is accomplished by the Spirit of God. We do not know when He is coming or from where we only know when He has come into our lives. You had nothing to do with your first birth and you have nothing to do with your second birth. This grand and glorious event is accomplished by God in the life of the individual chosen by Himself. It is a free and unmerited gift. Being a gift it is not dissevered or earned. It is given freely by God’s grace.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (NASB)
8For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
God’s grace is a gift to us. Grace is receiving what we do not deserve. God’s salvation is a gift to us. Salvation is being saved or rescued from eternal death and given new life in Christ. God’s faith is a gift to us. Faith is the ability given to us by God to believe as real that which we cannot experience with our natural senses. Salvation then becomes a settled reality in our lives.
